You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This is a matter of rearranging this equation so that you'll start with "y =". Once done, whatever on the right side of the "y =" will look really easy for you to pick out the slope and y-intercept of your line.

+4x+%2B+4y+=+20+ <------ Start with this one.
+4y+=+-4x+%2B+20+ <------ We want the term with the variable y to be by itself on the left. We must first move all terms that don't include the variable y to the right by using opposite operations. The 4x is positive, so we'll have to subtract 4x from it to get rid of it, but you've got to do the same thing on the other side. One "short-cut" way to look at it is to simply transfer the term to the other side but once it "arrived" on the other side, change the sign.

+y+=+-x+%2B+5+ <----- Since we want the y to be by itself, and there was still a 4 being multiplied to it, we performed an opposite operation to that multiplication and divided the 4y by 4 to get rid of the 4. You can definitely do that BUT just because you did that on one side of the equation, you MUST do it to ALL TERMS on the other side of the multiplication.

The above equation really says y = -1x + 5. We usually don't write the 1 in front of the variable. We just know that it's 1 when we don't see it. Now, when it's written this way, it's easy to pick out the slope and y-intercept. The slope is simply that -1, the number multiplied by the x. The y-intercept is that constant term 5.
