: I am confused on the way I am supposed to come up with a table of values (x & y)to figure out the answer to these. y=2x and y=2x^2 especially. I did great when I was provided the x values; now I don't know how/where to find them. Help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Usually you are not given the values of x. You just make them up yourself. Of course, you should use easy numbers. I would say in most problems, just let x=0, x=1, x=2, x=-1, etc. It really depends upon the problem. If you know it is a straight line, then you only need about 2 points. If it is NOT a straight line, it may take a half dozen or more points, depending upon how good you are a figuring out the pattern of numbers, and the shape of the graph.
Do you have a graphing calculator?? That's handy if you are allowed to use one. Your particular graphs should look like this:
