You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Oh my goodness. I have no clue as to what I am suppose to do with this. Please help me solve this. Is this suppose to be done in multiple steps?
Given the parabola y = x2 – 6x –7 , answer the following questions:
Determine if the parabola whose equation is given opens upward or downward. What is its x-intercept?
Find its y-intercept. What are the coordinates of the vertex?
Graph the parabola.
Y=X^2-6X-7
Y={X^2-2(X)(3)+3^2-3^2}-7
Y=(X-3)^2-16
WHEN Y=0,WE HAVE
(X-3)^2=16
X-3=+4................OR..............X-3=-4
X=7...............OR.............X=-1
HENCE X INTERCEPTS ARE 7 AND -1.
WHEN X=0,WE HAVE
Y=(0-3)^2-16=9-16=-7
HENCE Y INTERCEPT IS -7.
VERTEX IS X=3 AND Y=-16...OR...(3,-16)
GRAPH IS GIVEN BELOW...YOU CAN SEE THAT IT HAS A MINIMUM OF -16 AT X=3 OR THE GRAPH OPENS UPWARD.
