x^2+12x-64=0
----
Use Inverse-FOIL:
x^2 + 16x-4x -64 = 0
----
Factor the 1st 2 and last 2 terms separately to get:
x(x+16) -4(x+16) = 0
----
Factor again:
(x+16)(x-4) = 0
Solve:
x = -16 or x = 4
