pick points:

ok, for the table of values I'm going to pick numbers for x which are quite small so we don't have a huge axis. Also remember, when doing these problems, there can be any number for x. So I'll pick three values for x: 1, 2, and 3.
The equation for the line is y=x^2-1.
For the first value we plug 1 the number for x, so, y=1%5E2-1=0
For the second we plug in 2 for x and solve. y=2%5E2-1=3
For the third, we plug in 3 for x and solve also. y=3%5E2-1=8
Now that we know what both x and y equal, we plot them on the axis for each value that we found. So the first one would be 1,0. The second 2,3; The third, 3,8;
