Here's an example of a problem:

If you throw a rock straight up, the position x in terms of time (t) is given by
x+=+%281%2F2%29at%5E2+%2B+v%5B0%5Dt+%2B+x%5B0%5D where a is the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s^2), v%5B0%5D is the original velocity, and x%5B0%5D is the original position. How long does it take for the rock to hit the ground? (just use the quadratic formula)
