Question 361107: Hello! I am working on quadratic equations this week, in my Algebra class (section 11.4, #7). At the current moment I am stumped and totally confused on this one problem we are required to do. Apart of the requirements for completing the assignment is to show every single step on how I got to my answer. I wasn't sure if anyone could help me, but I thought I would post to see who's the master at these type of equations. Thank you so much in advance for all your help!
Directions: Solve the equation by making an appropriate substitution.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x-sqrt%282x%29-8=0
...
add +%2Bsqrt%282x%29+to++both++sides
...
x-8=sqrt%282x%29
square both sides
%28x-8%29%5E2=2x
x%5E2-16x%2B64=2x
x%5E2-18x%2B64=0
...
solve using quadratic formula
discriminant = 68
x1=+%2818%2Bsqrt%2868%29%29%2F2
x1= 13.123
x2=+%2818-sqrt%2868%29%29%2F2
x2=4.876
