Question 247840: Can you help solve this problem, I know that I'm missing something here....
f(x) = 1x^2 - 6x + 2
I just need the steps for the -6 when calculating the vertex - b/2a is confusing me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = 1x^2 - 6x + 2
I just need the steps for the -6 when calculating the vertex - b/2a is confusing me.
--------------
You have a quadratic with a=1 , b=-6, and c= 2
--------------------
The vertex occurs when x = -b/(2a) = -(-6)/(2*1) = 6/2 = 3
f(3) = (3^2)-6*3+2 = 9-18+2 = -7
Vertex is at (3,-7)
