If the volume of the box is 60 cm^3 find the dimensions of the square piece of metal
:
If 3 cm squares are cut, the height of the box is 3 cm
:
Find the area:
60%2F3 = 20 sq/cm is the area of the bottom of the box
:
Since it is square:
sqrt%2820%29 = 4.472 cm is the dimension of the side of the square bottom
:
Cutting 3 cm squares subtracts 6 cm from the original square piece of metal dimensions
Therefore
4.472 + 6 = 10.472 cm is the side of the square piece of metal
