The left side of the equation is a perfect square:
%28x%2B5%29%5E2=+8

Take the square root of each side:
x%2B5=+0%2B-sqrt%288%29

Subtract 5 from each side:
x=-5%2B-sqrt%288%29
x=-5%2B2%2Asqrt%282%29 or x=-5-2%2Asqrt%282%29

I don't think ANY of your choices are correct!!
