You can put this solution on YOUR website! You have two equal signs in this equation. Did you mean a ^2 -2a - 35 = 0
If so, then factor the trinomial:
a ^2 -2a - 35 = 0
(a-7)(a+5) =0
a-7=0 or a+5=0
a=7 or a=-5
