You can put this solution on YOUR website!
√2 x² - 4x – 7 √2 = 0
.
The coefficients are:
a = √2
b = -4
c = 7√2
.
The determinant (stuff under the radical in the quadratic equation):
b^2 - 4ac
= (-4)^2 - 4(√2)(7√2)
= 16 - 4(2)(7)
= 16 - (8)(7)
= 16 - 56
= -40
.
Since the determinant is negative, you will have two complex solutions.
