Question 143773: This problem is one of my biggest problems that I do not no how to figure out will Someone please help me??
In 1991 the life expentancy of males in a certain country was 68.5 years. In 1996, it was 71.1. Let E represent the lif expectancy in year t and let t represent the number of years since 1991.
The linear function E(t) that fits the data is
E(t) = ?t + ?
(round to the nearest tenth)
Use the function to find the life expectancy of males in 2009?
E(18)=?
(round to the nearest tenth)
This is so confusing I do no no where to begin with this really can someone help? Please?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In 1991 the life expentancy of males in a certain country was 68.5 years. In 1996, it was 71.1. Let E represent the lif expectancy in year t and let t represent the number of years since 1991.
The linear function E(t) that fits the data is
E(t) = ?t + ?
----------------------
You have two points relating years since 1991 and life expectancy.
They are (0,68.5) and (5,71.1)
Can you find the equation of the line thru these two points?
================
Ans: E(t) = (13/25)t + 68.5
