x%5E2-8x+=+-15 Complete the square in x by adding the square of half the x-coefficient %28-8%2F2%29%5E2+=+16 to both sides.
x%5E2-8x%2B16+=+-15%2B16 Factor the left sides.
%28x-4%29%5E2+=+1 Take the square root of both sides.
%28x-4%29+=+1 or %28x-4%29+=+-1 so...
x+=+4%2B1 or x+=+4-1
x+=+5 or x+=+3
