Question 133900: 4 over x = 3 over x squared + 5
LCD= x^2
a=5 b=-4 c=3
0=5x^2-4x+5
Total answer i got= 4 plus minus square root -44 over 10
is this right???? are they both no solution?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4/x=(3/x^2) +5 I assume that this is the problem.
4x=3+5x^2
5x^2-4x+3=0
x=2/5 + sqrt(11)/5 * i, x=2/5 - sqrt(11)/5 * i

Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 5x%5E2%2B-4x%2B3+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%28-4%29%5E2-4%2A5%2A3=-44.

The discriminant -44 is less than zero. That means that there are no solutions among real numbers.

In the field of imaginary numbers, the square root of -44 is + or - sqrt%28+44%29+=+6.6332495807108.
