You can put this solution on YOUR website! Picture dimensions, 4 inch by 6 inch
Whole area of picture AND frame, by . Uniform width of the frame strip is x.
You are given, area of the frame is 24 square inches, and notice this is the same size area as the picture.
Whole Area minus Picture Area equals the 24 square inches frame area.
Can you see what to do with this?
------
-------a good starting equation. Simplify and solve.
---------You may be able to do this using factoring, without dealing with quadratic equation formula/solutions. Factors of 12 are 3 and 4. The value for x must be 1 inch.
