Question 112228: Here is the problem: Suppose you are tossing an apple up to a friend on a third-story balcony. After x seconds, the height of the apple in feet is given by h=-16x(squared)+38.4x+0.96. Your friend catches the apple just as it reaches its highest point. How long does it take for the apple to reach your friend, and at what height above the ground does your friend catch it.
I tried doing:
-38.4/2(-16)= 6/5
Then i plugged 6/5 into the equation and got 24. I do not know where to go from there. Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You've answered the question, you don't have to go anywhere from there.
:
You found the axis of symmetry: x = 6/5 or 1.2 seconds
You found the vertex to be 24 ft
:
It took 1.2 sec to get to your friend and it was then 24 ft high
