1.  2x%5E2%2B5 = 77  --->  (distract 5 from both sides)  --->

2.  2x%5E2 = 72.    --->  (divide both sides by 5)  --->

3.  x%5E2 = 36.      --->  (take the square root from both sides)  --->

4.  x = +/-6.

Answer.  x = 6  and/or  x = -6.
