Question 1010955: Hi,
Thank you for answering my question in advance.
A cylindrical tank having a diameter of 75.5 cm is placed so that it touches a wall. Find the radius of largest pipe that can fit into the space in between the tank and the wall.
The tank is in a corner.
Thank you

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A method for this can be using coordinate geometry. Imagine a circle with center in the quadrant 1, at (75.5, 75.5) and radius is 75.5 also. The circle equation is %28x-75.5%29%5E2%2B%28y-75.5%29%5E2=%2875.5%29%5E2.

Now imagine a line, y=x, which will intersect the circle but you are interested in the intersection point nearer to the origin (which is one of the corners of the room). Find this intersection point.

Use the distance formula next. Find the distance from that near intersection point and the origin. HALF this distance is the radius of the pipe which will fit.
