Question 763137: This is my problem below. I do not understand much of anything that is going on. At points I think I understand it only to be wrong. Please help me. Not only do I need help with this but I also need to be able to do it for myself. Any advise on how would be greatly appreciated!

A researcher predicts that watching a film on institutionalization will change students’ attitudes about chronically mentally ill patients. The researcher randomly selects a class of 36 students, shows them the film, and gives them a questionnaire about their attitudes. The mean score on the questionnaire for these 36 students is 70. The score for a similar class of students who did not see the film is 75. The standard deviation is 12. Using the five steps of hypothesis testing and the 5% significance level (i.e. alpha = .05), does showing the film change students’ attitudes towards the chronically mentally ill?
1.What does it mean to set alpha at .05?
2.What is your null hypothesis? Alternate hypothesis?
3.Is this a one-tailed or two-tailed hypothesis?
4.What is the criterion z?
5.Suppose the obtained z was -2.5. Do you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis?
6.State in words what you have found.
Number six is where I am having problems the most! How am I suppose to put these number and stuff in words!
This is what I got but fear it is wrong. I also had a little help with just this little bit.
ME:"p" known as "p-value" utilized for testing a "hypothesis"
"0.05" is "confidence level" or "alpha"
For case (p<0.05), this means to accept "null hypothesis" which is the original hypothesis of the problem.
example of null hypothesis: average test score = 75%
example of alternative hypothesis:average test score > 75%

Question 763418: I need to know what a parabola graph looks like when the parabola will cross the x-axis at 0 and 12. I worked out the problem I just need to know what the graph will look like. I don't understand that part of it.
My problem was: -25x^2 + 300x = 0
25x^2 - 300x = 0
25x (x - 12) = 0
25x = 0 or x -12 = 0
I just need to know how to graph it and see what it looks like. I believe the parabola will open downward because it has a negative value.

Question 763495: A T-shirt company will place custom logos on shirts. A group must order a minimum of 100 T-shirts to get the price per shirt of $12. But a discount is offered for larger orders. For each set of 10 more shirts, the price of each shirt will decrease by $0.50.
a. Assuming that a group must place a minimum order of 100 shirts, find the equation that models the total cost C(t) for the T-shirts. (Hint: Define t to be the number of sets of 10 T-shirts ordered beyond 100, i.e. t = 2 if 20 more T-shirts are ordered)
Find the equation that models this situation
b. Use the model to find the cost for buying 200 T-shirts.
