w and L for width and length or original dimensions;
u for the uniform quantity to add onto each dimension; this is not the same as, "uniform width" common in some exercises.
A for the amount of area increase when u is applied.

The question to answer essentially is to find u. w+u and L+u can then be computed.

Area now, wL
Area next year, %28w%2Bu%29%28L%2Bu%29, again understand that u is NOT "uniform width of border".
Difference in areas, highlight%28%28w%2Bu%29%28L%2Bu%29-wL=A%29

Solve that equation for u.

Use the given variable assignments when ready:
