You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You're going to want to factor this out:
Original equation: m%5E2-4m-12=0
Step 1: Factor the equation
m%5E2-4m-12=0
%28m-6%29%28m%2B2%29=0
Step 2: Find the roots by setting each parenthesis equal to zero
%28m-6%29=0
%28m%2B2%29=0
For the %28m-6%29=0 equation, add '6' to both sides to get the 'm' by itself
%28m-6%29=0
m=6
For the %28m%2B2%29=0, subtract '2' to both sides to get the 'm' by itself
%28m%2B2%29=0
m=-2
The factored version of this equation is %28m-6%29%28m%2B2%29 and its roots are m=6 and m=-2
