Use Foil to expand everything on the left side of the bracket, then add 12 to both sides of the equation and solve.
HINT: y%5E2-5y%2B6=0, what do -2 and -3 have to do with this equation?

Hello,
Let's expand this out (y-6)(y+1)=-12 to get:
y^2-5y-6=-12
Add 12 to get:
y^2-5y+6=0
Factor this:
(y-2)(y-3)=0
Solve for y:
y=2
y=3
Make sense?
