y varies directly with x. So we write

y = kx

We can see that when x=6 and y=5, the equation
5x-6y=0 is true, for 5(6)-6(5)=0

So we substitute these values in

y = kx

5 = k(6)

Divide both sides by 6

5%2F6=k

Therefore replacing k by 5%2F6 in y=kx we have

y = 5%2F6x
