If you try to solve by completing the square, you'll see that in order to get
x%5E2%2By%5E2=65 to be a square on the left hand side, you'll need to add
%282%29xy on both sides. And we are given as %281%2F2%29xy=14
So
x%5E2%2By%5E2=65
x%5E2%2B2xy%2By%5E2=65+%2B+2xy
x%5E2%2B2xy%2By%5E2=65+%2B+4%2A%281%2F2%29xy
x%5E2%2B2xy%2By%5E2=65+%2B+4%2A14

%28x+%2B+y%29+=+sqrt%28121%29
(x + y) = (+-)11
