You can put this solution on YOUR website!

are you sure that
one leg is 44 inches more than twice the length of the other leg and the hypotenuse is 5 inches more than the shorter leg?????/////

=============================
Makes the hypotenuse shorter than at least 1 of the legs.
Not possible.

Assuming the 4 was doubled in entering by mistake,
leg, 2x+4
short leg, x
hypotenuse, x+5

Pythagorean Theorem: %282x%2B4%29%5E2%2Bx%5E2=%28x%2B5%29%5E2
.
.
4x%5E2%2B6x-9=0

Using general solution formula and accepting only positive value,
x=%28-3%2B3sqrt%285%29%29%2F4, the short leg.
NOW recheck if this makes any sense. Look again at the original expressions from the problem description. Can you have 2x%2B4%3Cx%2B5 ? Does this match with the "solved" value for x?
