4x^2 + 2x – 3 = 0
x^2+.5x-.75=0 divide the equation by 4 to make the coeficient of the 1st term 1.
x^2+.5x =.75
x^2+.5x+.0625=.75+.0625 Divide the 2nd term by 2 and square the result and make it the new 3rd term and add it to the right side. Now we have a perfect square on the left.
(x+.25)^2=.8125 factor the left and combine on the right.
x+.25=+-sqrt(.8125)
x=-.25+-sqrt(.8125)
x=-1.1514, x=0.6514
