Question 70539: I am not sure how to set up a proportion to solve this.
It says heavier people burn more calories for the same activity and lighter people burn fewer. In fact, you can calculate similar figures for burning calories by setting up the appropriate proportion. Biking burns 410 c/h based on a 150-pound person.
At what rate would a 120-pound person burn calories while biking at 12 mi/h?
Do I use x calories/120 lb person = 12 miles/hour? I understand the basics of proportions and cross multiplying, then dividing by the coefficient, but this one stumped me on how to set it up.
Thanks in advance.
