You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance from any point (u,v) and (r,w) is sqrt%28%28u-r%29%5E2%2B%28v-w%29%5E2%29.

The final finished answer for your two given points, is 9.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

First,  compute the vector  EF  (with the start-point  E  and the end-point  F)  in the coordinate form

 EF = (1 - (-8), 1 - 1) = (9, 0).

In other words,  x-component  dx = 1 - (-8) = 9  and  y-component  dy = 1 - 1 = 0.

Now,  the length of the vector  EF  is

sqrt%28dx%5E2+%2B+dy%5E2%29 = sqrt%289%5E2+%2B+0%5E2%29 = sqrt%2881%29 = 9.
