You can put this solution on YOUR website!
n an elementary algebra class the ratio of men to women is 5 to 4.
If the class size is 45, how many men and how many women are in the class?
:
Here's one way:
Let x = the multiplier
then
5x + 4x = 45
9x = 45
x = 45%2F9
x = 5 is the multiplier
:
5(4) = 20 women the class
and
5(5) = 25 men, which adds up to 45
