Question 253849: Harold wants to cover the floors of his home with carpeting. He has 1,728
square feet of floor to cover.
Part A
Write a proportion to find n, the number of square yards of carpet he needs to
buy.
Proportion____________________________
Part B
Solve your proportion to find how many square yards of carpeting Harold needs to buy.
This is what I was thinking, but I need help:
___n____ = _________
1728 100
but I'm confused because the 1,728 is square feet, and the proportion mentions square yards. Is the missing number 3 because there are 3 feet in each yard? That is my thinking.
i don't know if my proportion is set up right.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are 9 sq ft in a sq yard.
-------------------
1728/9 = 192 sq yards
That's the area. I see no reason to make one item proportional to itself.
