3.4 = x(5)
x = 3.4/5
x = 0.68
x = 68%

3.4 is 68% of 5

Percent means "out of 100", so "what percent" can be expressed as:
x%2F100
The 3.4 of 5 can be expressed as,3.4%2F5, so...
x%2F100+=+3.4%2F5 solve for x (That's the percentage).
x+=+100%283.4%29%2F5
x+=+340%2F5
x+=+68%
3.4 is 68% of 5

(68%)(5) = (0.68)(5) = 3.4
