You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The ratio of men to women at a certain company is 3:5 . How many male employees does the company have if there are 112 employees?

Step 1. Let 3%2F5=males%2Ffemales=x%2Fy+where x is the number of males and y is the number of females.

Step 2. If 3%2F5=x%2Fy, then this leads to 3y=5x or y=5x%2F3

Step 3. Given, x%2By=112, then x%2B5x%2F3=112. Solving for x yields the following steps:

Multiply 3 to both sides of equation to get rid of denominator

3%2A%28x%2B5x%29%2F3=3%2A112

3%2A%28x%2B5x%2F3%29=3%2A112

3x%2B5x=336

8x=336

Divide by 8 to both sides of the equation

8x%2F8=336%2F8

x=42

Step 4. There are 42 males and 70 females as employees.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
