then
10 plus something divided by 2: 10%2Bx%2F2
equals 25+: 10%2Bx%2F2=25
x%2F2=25-10
x%2F2=15
x=15%2A2
x=30
so, that something is 30

With that interpretation, her answer of 30 is correct.

But because the calculations are described in words, another valid interpretation is

%2810%2Bx%29%2F2+=+25
10%2Bx+=+50
x+=+40

So an answer of 40 is also valid for this problem.
