Question 1096185: I just returned from a 10 day vacation where I spent time at a hotel that cost $60 dollars/day and a campground that cost $15 dollars/ day for a total of $330. How many days did I spend at the hotel and how many days id I spend at the campground ? Don't know how to set up equation! Thank you. Answer by ikleyn(52781) (Show Source):
Let x be the number of days at the campground.
Then the number of days at the hotel is (10-x).
You pay 60*(10-x) dollars for staying at the hotel and 15*x dollars for the campground.
In all,
60*(10-x) + 15*x = 330 dollars.
It is your equation, and the setup is done.
Now simplify the equation and solve it for x.
