You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I guess what they are saying is:
[ old fare ] / [ new fare ] = 7/9 }}}
(i)
+245+%2F+x+=+7%2F9+
Multiply both sides by +9x+
+9%2A245+=+7x+
+x+=+2205%2F7+
+x+=+315+
+315+-+245+=+70+
The increase is $70
-----------------------
(ii)
+x%2F207+=+7%2F9+
+9x+=+7%2A207+
+9x+=+1449+
+x+=+161+
+207+-+161+=+46+
The increase is $46

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) 245/1 x 7/9 cross multiply:
(245 x 9)/(1 x 7) = 315 is the new fare
----------------------------------------
2) straight multiply, then divide
207/1 x 7/9 = 1449/9 = 161 was the old fare
