Question 1061550: A contractor engaged 30 persons to construct the road in 30 days but only one fourth of the work was completed after 10 days. How many more persons are required to complete the work in time? Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If only 1/4th of the work is done in 10 days, then it takes 40 days to finish the work. 30 people doing 1/40th of the work per day is 1/30 x 1/40, or 1 person doing 1/1200th of the work per day. Let n be the number of people needed. Then:
n/1200 x 20=3/4
80n=3600
n=45
You need 45 people to do the job, or 15 more people than the 30 you already have. ☺☺☺☺
