then x+y=175
or x=175-y........1
cost of tickets is $6 for adults and $2 for children
then 6x+2y=750........2
putting the value from 1
6(175-y)+2y=750
or 1050-6y+2y=750
or 4y=300
or y=75
from x=175-75-100
100 children tickets were sold
