There is no horizontal asymptote when the degree of the numerator polynomial is greater than the degree of the the denominator polynomial. Since the degrees differ by one, there is a straight line slant asymptote where the LHS of the equation is and the RHS is the quotient of the polynomial long division of the numerator by the denominator discarding any remainder.
