You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Think of this as the turtle standing still and the rabbit
moving at the sum of their speeds.
Let +t+ = time in minutes for them to be +3216+ ft apart
+3216+=+%28+5+%2B+62+%29%2At+
+3216+=+67t+
+t+=+3216%2F67+
+t+=+48+
They will be 3216 ft apart in 48 min

The rabbit and the turtle start by standing back to back. The turtle crawls 5 feet per minute to the left. The rabbit runs 62 feet per minute to the right. How long will it take then to be 3216 feet apart?
**
let x=distance rabbit traveled
3216-x=distance turtle traveled
travel time=distance/speed (same for both rabbit and turtle)
x/62=(3216-x)/5
5x=62(3216-x)=199392-62x
67x=199392
x=2976
2976/62=48
How long will it take then to be 3216 feet apart? 48 min
