Question 687675: I need to know how to find the slope from an equation

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are 2 usual forms you will find
a linear ( straight line ) equation in.
(1)
The standard form
+ax+%2B+by+=+c+
(2)
The slope-intercept form
+y+=+m%2Ax+%2B+b+
---------------------
You need the slope-intercept form in
order to find the slope, which is +m+.
---------------------
Suppose you are given:
+4x+-+7y+=+13+
Subtract +4x+ from both sides
+-7y+=+-4x+%2B+13+
Divide both sides by +-7+
+y+=+%284%2F7%29%2Ax+-+13%2F7+
----------------------
This is now in the slope-intercept form
and the slope is +m+=+4%2F7+
----------------------
This is hard to see when the equation
is in the other form
Hope this helps
