Question 396564: A student was thinking of three consecutive numbers. He said that the sum of the first and the second was the same as the third number increased by 9.
I have so far.
2(x+x+1) = (x+2)+ 9
2x+2x+2=x+11
4x+2=x+11
3x+2=11
3x=9
X=3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Why'd you multiply by 2?

Should be just

x+%2B+%28x+%2B+1%29+=+%28x+%2B+2%29+%2B+9

2x+%2B+1+=+x+%2B+11

x+=+10, so 10, 11, 12 are the numbers.
