You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Outside diameter 12cm

Outside radius 12/2 = 6cm

Thickness = 4mm = 0.4cm

Inside radius 6-0.4 = 5.6cmm

Volume of metal: %284%2F3%29%28pi%29%286%5E3-5.6%5E3%29

The mass is the volume of metal, multiplied by the density of the metal.

I leave the calculations to the student.

(ANSWER: 1488.6g, to one decimal place)

A hollow metal sphere is made of metal 4mm thick and has an external diameter of 12cm.
If the density of the metal is 8.8g/cm³, What is the mass of the sphere?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To find the mass, multiply the density by the volume of the metal.
To find the volume of the metal, from the volume of the outer sphere subtract the volume
of the interior sphere.
    mass = 8.8%2A%284%2F3%29%2Api%2A%28R%5E3-r%5E3%29 = 8.8%2A%284%2F3%29%2A3.14159265%2A%28%2812%2F2%29%5E3-%28%2812-2%2A0.4%29%2F2%29%5E3%29 = 1488.601 grams.    ANSWER
