.
a) The telephone poles along a road are 20m apart and a car travels from the first
to the fifteenth in 10½ seconds. Calculate the speed of the car in km/h.
b) A tankful of water lasts 15 weeks if 3 litres a day are used.
How long will the tankful last if 10 litres a day are used?

In this post, I will solve part (b), ONLY.

The governing equation is

    15*7*3 = 10*d,

where 15 represents 15 weeks; 7 represents 7 day of a week; 3 represents 3 liters per day;
10 represents 10 liters per day and "d" represents days.

The equation expresses an idea that the consumed volume of water is the same in both scenarios.

From this equation

    d = %2815%2A7%2A3%29%2F10 = 31.5 days = 311%2F2  days.    ANSWER

Solved.
