You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A's rate of working:
[ 1 job ] / [ 12 days ]
B's rate of working:
[ 1 job ] / [ 18 days ]
-------------------------
Let +x+ = fraction of job completed
with both working for 4 days:
+1%2F12+%2B+1%2F18+=+x%2F4+
Multiply both sides by +36+
+3+%2B+2+=+9x+
+9x+=+5+
+x+=+5%2F9+
That means there is +1+-+5%2F9+-+4%2F9+
of the job left to do
Let +t+ = time in days for B to finish:
+1%2F18+=+%28%284%2F9%29%29%2Ft+
+t%2A%28+1%2F18+%29+=+4%2F9+
+t%2F2+=+4+
+t+=+8+
It will take B 8 days to finish the job working alone

.
In 4 days A completed 1%2F3 of the job; at the same time B completed 4%2F18 = 2%2F9 of the job,

so working together 4 days, our workers A and B completed 1%2F3+%2B+2%2F9 = 3%2F9+%2B+2%2F9 = 5%2F9 of the job.

Hence, 4%2F9 of the job remained to be done.

The rate of work for B is 1%2F18 of the job per day.

Therefore, B needs %28%284%2F9%29%29%2F%28%281%2F18%29%29 = %284%2A18%29%2F9 = 4*2 = 8 days to complete the remained job working alone. ANSWER
