18x + 5 = 7/x
multiply both sides by x
18x^2 + 5x = 7
Arrange as a quadratic equation
18x^2 + 5x - 7 = 0
you can use the quadratic formula; a=18; b=5; c=-7, but this will factor
(9x + 7)(2x - 1)
9x = -7
x = -9%2F7
and
2x = 1
x = 1%2F2
