Question 749396: The digram at the right shows a planned open space inside a large recreational area. The space consisits of five congruent squares lyring along the sides of a regular pentaon. Suppose a city council has budgeted $427500 to landscape the area with sod and put a wooden fence aroound it. A park technician finds that the sod costs $25 per square foot and fenciing cost $10 per foot. If the technician is to stay within the budgets, how long can each side of the space be?
Using geometry the technician finds that the area is 6.72s and the perimeter is 15s. Thus the cost of sod and fencing will be 25(6.72s)+168s(squared) +150s.
Use he quadratic formula to find the postive solution...................................................................
QUESTION
Is it possible to plan an open space whose sides are more than 60 feet long on a budget of $516,450? Explain.
I would love someone who is nice to help!! Thanks! ;)
