the numerator (top) is not factorable, but the denominator (bottom) is

(2x^2 - 5x - 6) / [(x - 6)(x + 1)]

non-permissible values are quantities that result in undefined results (like division by zero)

6 and -1 both result in a zero denominator ___ this is a no-no (see above)
