Sam 4 hours
He does 1/ 4 job in 1 hour
Lisa 6 hours
she does 1/ 6 of thejob in 1 hour
Tom 2 hours
It does 1/ 2 of the job in 1 hour

Together they will do 1/ 4 + 1/ 6 + 1/ 2
Together they will do 11/12 of the job in one hour
So they will take 1 1/9 hours
OR in decimals
So they will take 1.09 hours
