A couple ways to handle it. One is make reference to the angle shown if moved into just the quadrant 1. The other way is visualize or construct the right triangle where your theta is shown, and easily read the %28sideOpposite%29%2Fhypotenuse; and you have the data for computing the hypotenuse.

You see where your theta is actually located, so you really should not change the sign of the sine; because you are asked for sine of THETA; NOT sine of THETA plus pi.
